Who We Are

Africa Development Analytica (AfDA) is an independent non-profit research organization dedicated to addressing the "triple-burden of survival" in Africa: climate change, conflict, and poverty. Our primary objective is to improve our understanding of these interconnected challenges and provide evidence-based insights to inform effective policy design and implementation to tackle them.

Climate change, conflict, and poverty are deeply interconnected and mutually reinforced in many developing regions of the world. Africa is a region where the interconnectedness between these triple challenges is highly pronounced with far-reaching consequences but where our knowledge remains limited. AfDA seeks to contribute to bridging this knowledge gap by improving our understanding and delivering innovative policy options and impact.

AfDA employs a multidisciplinary approach, shaping research problems and policy options through the triple-nexus lens, emphasizing the active and diverse involvement of local experts in co-generating knowledge. This collaborative approach ensures that AfDA's research outputs are deeply contextualized and locally driven. Our primary goal is to inform policy decisions, strengthen ownership, and, ultimately, contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive development in Africa. Moreover, AfDA is committed to recognizing the critical importance of integrating gender equality, social inclusion, private sector development, and resilience into every facet of our research and policy engagements.
